Mitcheldean is a small town in the east of the Forest of Dean, in the county of Gloucestershire, England.The Parish and former market town of Mitcheldean lies 16.5 km. west of Gloucester. Mitcheldean, once part of the Forest of Dean, was usually called Dean until the mid 13th century.The town prospered in the 17th century but was in decline as an industrial centre and market by the end of the 18th and became primarily a shopping centre of local importance. |
