Guarded by mounted soldiers, the Horse Guards is the home of the Troopers of the Household Cavalry there is a Changing of the Guard ceremony. The ceremony is similar to the pomp of the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, although not as grand, but is very popular amongst tourists to London.
The parade ground of Horse Guards is dominated by the ivy-covered Citade, a.bomb-proof structure built beside the Admiralty in 1940. During World War II it was used as a communications headquarters by the Navy.
