Beamish is a world famous open air museum it was in established in 1970,Beamish stands on over three hundred acres of pleasantly rolling wooded land, Although great importance is attached to the enjoyment and interest of visitors Beamish is particularly concerned to preserve the heritage of the Durham North East region.
A vast collection of museum objects is held in store, awaiting use in an appropriate setting, and also as a research collection for students. Behind the scenes a mammoth task of regional recording of the recent past steadily proceeds.
Visting timings
Summer Season 2008/2009
Saturday, 15th March to Sunday, 2nd November 2008
Open every day from 10am to 5pm, last admission 3pm.
Winter Season 2008/2009
Monday, 3rd November 2008 to Friday, 3rd April 2009
Open 10am to 4pm, last admission 3pm. Closed Mondays and Fridays. Also closed Monday, 8th December 2008 to Friday, 2nd January 2009 inclusive. |
